Visa Requirements

As with all companies in Croatia, Berlitz has the authority to help their employees obtain a visa (prolonged stay document) for freelance work. After we have assisted you in obtaining the visa, Berlitz will apply for your work permit. This procedure takes about a total of 2-3 months.

Hiring Procedure

Once we have received your application, we will contact you regarding an interview. Interviews are held at the language center during regular office hours. If you reside outside of Croatia, please inform us as to when you are planning to be in the country so that we can set up a personal interview. Please note that any costs incurred while travelling to the interview are covered by the applicant. After successful completion of the interview process, you will be invited to attend the Berlitz Instructor Training. This will also be held at our language center and is free of charge.

Teaching Contracts

We offer part-time, freelance teaching positions at our centers. Most of the classes are in the morning or evening hours. Applicants need not have prior experience teaching or certification for teaching English as a second language. We provide successful candidates with all of the training necessary to begin teaching at our company.

Getting Started

Our experience has shown that you will initially need to bring approximately $1,500 - $2,500 with you to budget for acquiring an apartment or similar accommodation, day-to-day living expenses and miscellaneous expenses that can be incurred until your first pay period. It is also necessary to open a bank account, which facilitates the transfer of monthly wages, payment of bills, etc.
