Visa Requirements

As an American, Canadian or other non-EU citizen, it is necessary to have a permit to reside for any period of time exceeding 3 months. Further information on obtaining the relevant permit can be obtained from the Luxembourg embassy in your country.
Please note that the law provides a 2-year transition period for the nationals of the new EU member states.
To be eligible for employment please be sure that you have all the appropriate documentation and permits for employment.
Hiring Procedure

Once we have received your application, we will contact you regarding an interview. Interviews are held at the language center during regular office hours. If you reside outside of Luxembourg, please inform us as to when you are planning to be in the country so that we can set up a personal interview at the center to which you are applying. Please note that any costs incurred travelling to the interview are covered by the applicant. After successful completion of the interview process, you will be invited to attend the Berlitz Instructor Training. This will also be held at one of our language centers and is free of charge.
Teaching Contracts

There are two types of teaching possibilities available in Luxembourg
- Candidates can work on a freelance basis - the candidate is responsible for his/her own tax and medical payments or subscriptions. Working hours are flexible and change from day to day, and from week to week depending on your availability. We have daytime, evening and Saturday morning courses.
- We can also offer contracts in which we guarantee a minimum number of units i.e. minimum 55, maximum 220. Working hours are flexible and change from day to day, and from week to week. Large availabilities are requested i.e. day time + evening time + 2 Saturday mornings/month.

Getting Started

Our experience has shown that you will initially need to bring approximately € 4.000 - € 5.000 with you to budget for acquiring an apartment or similar accommodation, day-to-day living expenses, and miscellaneous expenses that can be incurred. You will also need to open a bank-account on arrival, which facilitates the transfer of monthly salaries, payment of bills, etc.
