Thank you for your interest in teaching at Berlitz in Netherlands
Are you familiar with Netherlands?
If not, click here for an introduction to Netherlands as well as some culture tips.
Residence Permit

You must, under Dutch law, declare and register yourself with the relevant local authority in your host town or city. This is important for tax purposes, etc.
Work Permit

As an American, Canadian or other non-EU citizen, you need a permit to work in the Netherlands. Unfortunately, this can be rather difficult to obtain and Berlitz is not able to sponsor instructors.
For further information, please contact your local consulate.
Hiring Procedure

Once we have received your application, we will contact you regarding an interview. Interviews are held at the language center during regular office hours. If you reside outside of the Netherlands, please inform us as to when you are planning to be in the country so that we can set up a personal interview at the center to which you are applying. Any costs incurred while travelling to the interview are covered by the applicant. After a successful interview, you will be invited to attend our instructor training which lasts eight days and is free of charge.

Teaching Contracts

Due to the nature and range of programs offered by Berlitz, we offer candidates
employee contracts. This type of contract is for one year. Under such conditions, the working hours are flexible and may change from week to week. Berlitz Amsterdam requires a two-year commitment.

Getting Started

Our experience has shown that you will initially need to bring approximately
€2,500 - €3,000 with you to budget for acquiring an apartment or similar accommodation, day-to-day living expenses, and miscellaneous expenses that can be incurred. It is necessary to open a bank-account on arrival, which facilitates the transfer of monthly salaries, payment of bills, etc.
