Visa Requirements

As an American, Canadian or other non-EU citizen, it is necessary to have a permit to reside, and ultimately work in Sweden. You can initially enter Sweden with a three-month tourist visa. At this time you can apply for a position and partake in the 7-day instructor training. Afterwards, you will still need to apply for your work permit.

Hiring Procedure

SwedenOnce we have received your application, we will contact you regarding an interview. Interviews are held at the language center during regular office hours. If you reside outside of Sweden, please inform us as to when you are planning to be in the country so that we can set up a personal interview. Please not that any costs incurred while travelling to the interview are covered by the applicant. After successful completion of the interview process, you will be invited to attend the Berlitz Instructor Training. This will also be held at one of our language centers and is free of charge.

Teaching Contracts

Berlitz in Sweden offers part-time, freelance teaching contracts to new instructors. Most of the classes are in the morning or evening hours. Under such conditions, the working hours are flexible and may change from week to week depending on customer requests or the demand for lessons.

Getting Started

Our experience has shown that you will initially need to bring approximately $2,500 - $3,000 with you to budget for acquiring an apartment or similar accommodation, day-to-day living expenses and miscellaneous expenses that can be incurred until your first pay period. It is also necessary to open a bank account, which facilitates the transfer of monthly wages, payment of bills, etc. However, before you can do this, you need to have a CPR number, which is granted once your residence permit has been accepted.
