Visa Requirements

As an American, Canadian or other non-EU citizen, it is necessary to have a permit to reside and work in the country. Often, those studying here as a student are permitted to work for a few hours per week. Berlitz is unable to aid in the acquirement of a visa.

Hiring Procedure

Once we have received your application, we will contact you regarding an interview. Interviews are held at the language centre during regular office hours. If you reside outside of the UK, please inform us as to when you are planning to be in the country so that we can set up a personal interview at the centre. Any costs incurred while travelling to the interview are covered by the applicant. After successful completion of the interview process, you will be invited to attend the Berlitz Instructor Training. This will also be held at one of our language centres and is free of charge.

Teaching Contracts

We offer part-time, non-guaranteed teaching positions at our centres. Most of the classes are in the morning or evening hours. Under such conditions, the working hours are flexible and may change from day to day depending on customer requests and demand for lessons.

Taxes and Pension Plans

Income tax will be deducted automatically by Berlitz.

Getting Started

Our experience has shown that you will initially need to bring approximately $6,000 with you to budget for acquiring an apartment or similar accommodation, day-to-day living expenses and miscellaneous expenses that can be incurred until your first pay period. It is also necessary to open a bank account which facilitates the transfer of monthly wages, payment of bills, etc.
