Visa Requirements

Most countries do not require a visa to enter the country. To look for the visa requirements of your country please check the document "Directrices Visas" at http://www.migracion.go.cr/visas/index.html.

Costa RicaYou can come in the country as a tourist and once here, we will work on your working permit. Berlitz CR will cover the expenses of the working permit. You will be required to bring with you a copy of your Birth Certificate and a Criminal Background check. Both have to be authenticated by the Costa Rican Consulate in your country. This working permit is temporary and it is tied exclusively to the Berlitz/Instructor relationship. If the candidate decides to quit as well if Berlitz decide to terminate the working contract, this permit will automatically expire. This is under the understanding that if the instructor decides to leave before the six months period he or she will have to reimburse such permit expenses to Berlitz (US$250.00)

Hiring Procedure

After submitting one's resume/CV, potential Instructors will be asked to fill out an application form. Following screening of application forms, applicants will be contacted for an interview. Interviews with applicants residing outside of Costa Rica are done by telephone. Interviews with applicants in Costa Rica are held at one of our language centers. After successful completion of the interview process, candidates are invited to attend the Berlitz Instructor Training before beginning to teach. The initial training consists of two weeks (10 working days, half days). The invitation to the training does not mean the candidate is already hired. The formal hiring is done at the end of the training and it is based on the performance shown throughout the process. The initial training is not paid, so it is recommended to be prepared to cover your personal expenses during this period. Once an instructor reaches three months of employment; Berlitz Costa Rica will then recognize $100 for the above mentioned initial training.

Getting Started
