Visa Requirements

Since Puerto Rico is part of the United States our visa requirements are the same. If you are a citizen of the United States you are welcome to visit, live and work in Puerto Rico. For more visa information you can go to this site: http://www.usais.org/visas.htm

Hiring Procedure

If you are interested in pursuing available teaching positions, we have to insist on meeting you in person in an interview before we can offer you a position. Therefore, if you reside outside of Puerto Rico you would have to visit us on location, which could mean an extra trip for you. Unfortunately, Berlitz is unable to cover the cost of your journey to the interview. However, if you plan to come to Puerto Rico anyway, you could easily combine your vacation with an interview.

You must keep in mind that an Interview does not necessarily means that you will be hired. However, you will be told if you meet the requirements to start the training process in 24 hours or less. You need to complete all the training modules in order to get a position. The training process could take from 2 to 3 weeks.

Teaching Contracts

We offer part-time or full-time teaching positions at our centers. Most of the classes are in the morning and evening hours. Applicants need not have prior experience teaching or certification for teaching English as a second language. We provide successful candidates with all of the training necessary to begin teaching at our company.

Getting Started

It is recommended to bring approximately US$5,500-6,000 with you initially to budget for acquiring an apartment or similar accommodation, day-to-day living expenses and miscellaneous expenses that can be incurred until your first pay period. It is also necessary to open a bank account, which facilitates the transfer of monthly wages, payment of bills, etc.
