Visa Requirements

ColombiaTo be eligible to work for Berlitz Colombia, you are required to have a working visa. The steps for obtaining the visa are

  • Berlitz issues a certificate stating that it has room to hire one (or more) foreigners needs to be issued by the Administrative Dept. of Security, this takes approx. 15 to 20 working days.
     
  • Once this certificate is issued, Berlitz provides you with a letter stating that you have completed the training and all the requirements to become a Berlitz Instructor. Berlitz also provides a prospect contract.
     
  • With these three documents, you travel to the Colombian consulate in Venezuela, Ecuador or Panama in order to obtain the visa. Once the working visa has been granted (shouldn't take more than one (1) day), you return to Colombia to obtain your i.d. This takes approx. 1 day.

Once the i.d. procedure has been completed, you need to inscribe with a health plan and a retirement fund. Once this procedure is completed, you can start collecting the rest of documents which include: Two pictures, two recommendation letters, 2 photocopies of i.d., blood tests, letter of examination by doctor and other documents provided by Berlitz.

Hiring Procedure

Once we have received your application, we will contact you regarding a test and interviews. You will be scheduled for two interviews and will need to score at least 85% on the test. After successful completion of the interview process, you will be invited to attend the Berlitz Instructor Training. This will be held at one of our language centers.

Teaching Contracts

Teaching contracts abide the laws of labor currently existing in Colombia. Once the Instructors complete a two month trial period, the contract becomes indefinite.

All Instructors enjoy health plans, retirement funds, a 15 working day paid vacation period per year after completion of first year with the company, plus all other fringe benefits granted by law.
