Visa Requirements

To be eligible to work for Berlitz Peru, you are required to have a working visa. The steps for obtaining the visa are:
- Berlitz provides you with a prospect contract and a letter stating that you have completed the training and all the requirements to become an instructor. Berlitz only supports you with the documents you need to start the paperwork to get the working visa but all the necessary expenses will be taken care of by the applicant.
- With these documents, you travel to the Peruvian consulate in Chile and Ecuador in order to obtain the visa. Once the working visa has been granted (the process shouldn't take more than one (1) day), you return to Peru to obtain your i.d. This takes approx. 2 to 4 weeks.
Once the i.d. procedure has been completed, you need to inscribe with a retirement fund (AFP). Once this procedure is completed, you can start collecting the rest of the documents which include: Two pictures, three recommendation letters, a recommendation letter from previous jobs, 2 photocopies of i.d. and passport, a copy of police records, blood tests, letter of examination by a doctor and other documents provided by Berlitz.
Hiring Procedure

Once we have received your application, we will contact you regarding a test and interviews. You will be scheduled for two interviews and will need to score at least 85% on the test. After successful completion of the interview process, you will be invited to attend the Berlitz Instructor Training which lasts two weeks. This will be held at our Headquarters.

Teaching Contracts

Teaching contracts abide the laws of labor currently existing in Peru. Once the instructors complete a three-month trial period, the contract becomes indefinite.
All instructors are hired under the payroll system which offers the following benefits: health plans, retirement funds, profit sharing plan, a 1 month paid vacation period per year after completion of first year with the company, plus all other fringe benefits granted by law.

Taxes and Deductions

All instructors are deducted a 15% of their yearly income as part of the income tax. On the other hand, there is a 13% deduction due to the retirement plan demanded by law.
